Lithuania holds a unique combination medieval castles, picturesque villages and brightly-colored Orthodox churches alongside brutalist Soviet architecture and swathes of forests. I included Lithuania in my trip to the Baltics in the summer of 2019, visiting the capital, Vilnius, the second-largest city of Kaunas, and other historic landmarks such as the Hill of Crosses.
